Default Whats up with the crazy grinding farming?

Alright guys another A/E thread but this time its about who does it and why...

Alright so i finally bothered to try A/E UW farm on my sin and on my first run i got 8 ectos and ...... boredom. I simply have to ask who is sad enogh to repeat this run over and over? while i was in ToA after my farm this guy clamed that he has farmed a stack in just 3 days. I had to say "is life worth it anymore?"

I was just wondering how many ppl feel that this is just....Crazy to farm so much in a short period of time. I myself do little farming and rely upon my pvp Z keys and occasional HM mission/dungeons to keep me stacked up on money i rarely 'farm' i am just curious on why peeps farm so much in Guild wars i mean.... weapons can not be better than any other weps just look better and FoW armor is not any better than any other armor. I can understand why peeps farm in games such as WoW & MU but not really in guild wars. Of course some farming is fine but this constant grinding for a 'Eternal blade' which is no better than any other sword just seems strange to me. I was wondering if anyone else agree with me.

Some people want certain things. If those things cost alot then the one of the alternatives is to farm to get it. I really don't consider people who farm "sad" like you seem to think. Different people enjoy playing different ways and we all need to respect that.

I feel that way about anything concerning HM.
And quite a few things concerning NM.
If you like them - using your analogy - you are sad.

Seriously - different people, like different things.
Some might find it fun to kill everything by themselves, some might just like what the purple money buys them!

Edit: a bit slow it seems ....

farming gets rather boring after a while. it only keeps fun if you have a goal (like i do :P). anyway i preffer running elona's reach on HM with my a/e (it's less boring, 20-25k per full run and sometimes a challenge) then farming ecto's with same char and having a change to waste 1k and get nothing.

I would never call a person ''sad'' for playing differently from me its just seems so down right silly to me in guild wars thats all.
I do so hate it when somone ranks you good you are by your apperance on games for example
Me:Learn to play the game plz -.-
Other dude: Oh stfu i have chaos gloves
^actually happened RA

Also i am not trying to insult all those peeps who do farm like some ppl who have commented seem to think.

What i want to know is that
I think farming in guild wars is silly because everyone can get perfect items/weps/clothing with little cost.
Does anyone agree with me?

I got bored with a assassin after the first factions mission lol. But besides, if they have a few days to spare and have nothing planned, I can see why they could get a stack of ecto's. I couldnt really be bothered, but if they have a drive to do so, then let them

That's the whole reason people grind out to farm, there's no other reason. It's to look good, but then that soon wears off when you just stand around trying to get noticed. Think of the things you could have done in your life, instead of pressing a few buttons on a computer. Wow, amazing waste of time. Looking good doesn't make you a good player, and The amount of times I've been paired with somebody who sucks at the gamer but looks pretty hot is incredible. It's like a Ferrari with a Skoda engine inside. Crap.

It seems for me now that i have started really learning about farming, the value of everything is taking a nose dive. And now the one thing that always seemed to be a back up for quick cash (Ectos) is being over farmed and joining in on the plunge. Although I will admit, I myself am trying to get a Sin up to par so i can give it a few runs as well. But unfortunately since i have just started working on it by time i get em ready to go the build will be nerfed... but oh well, i wanted to make an assasin anyway. I remember the " Weekend to dye for"...nerfed the dye market which i still don't think has fully recovered...lol

A friend of mine farmed ectos on and off all week, ended up w/ about 100.
I don't really call him sad because he usually does nothing and finally found something to do other then complain about being bored.
I could do the same thing if I tried, but UW hates me <<

Anyways, If people want to farm their lives away, go ahead. that's their playstyle. I'm not going to criticize someone for having a bajillion sets of fow. They earned it (hopefully) and I'll respect them for that.

Yeah, some people actually enjoy doing the same boring thing over and over again, even if all factors still remain the same.
I probably won't ever understand them. Not that I want to.

I do it once every 2-3 nights for fun and profit. It's a neat, different thing to do in the Guild Wars world.

I don't complain about people doing it.... I just wish i had the ectos before the price drop... but hell, I only paid 1k to get in, so anything above that is a profit.

As farming goes, I find this one kinda fun, but I'd never really done anything in the UW, so it was all a bit new to me.

It started to get a old after the first 3 or 4 days, though.

That's one of the reasons I think people are silly to get all bent out of shape over these things. After the initial hype, people get bored and move on. I've moved from something like 8 runs a day, to just 2, now I've got my FoW ectos. That'll tail off, once I've got enough further ectos to trade in for shards.

If it doesn't get nerfed and ectos remain profitable, I'll come back now and then for festival ticket money and stuff, but I don't see myself doing anything silly like getting FoW armour or chaos gloves on every toon, just because it's now only a week or two's grind. Grind is still grind, however reduced.

I've never seen the appeal of farming. I mean really, how much fun can it be doing the same in the same way over and over again?

I farmed 100 ectos in 3 weeks, UW farm is boring and risky...i don't mind the risky but the farm itself is Dull, also thought about getting Sin FOW since it's my favorite class but Sin FoW is butt ugly........my ectos are for tormented weapons, when I need another weapon I will farm more ectos.

PS:100 Ectos in 3 weeks is not bad luck, I have only done 15 runs over the time period.

I really dont care too much about money, I just need it to finihs off my titles (lucky and wisdom). The problem is Ectos have gone to like 4.3K @ the trader from 5-6K and now that I need the funds I just don't have as much. So my 500 ectos are worth significantly less now then they were 2 months ago. But so be it the game changes and we all deal with it. If the current rate of farming continues though you will soo see this

WTS R9 eternal blade 100K + XX lockpicks .

Yes I have a sin, no I don't farm with him I am working on finishing up my 3 legendary titles with my necro.
